Seminar ship Orca ten Broke

The Orca ten Broke combines design and technology to create a unique comfort experience. There is no noise or vibration on board.

State-of-the-art technology

The solar hybrid ship ‘Orca ten Broke’ is the first of its kind. It combines design and technology to create a unique comfort experience. There is no noise, no vibration and no emissions on board.

Versatile in use

A heated seminar room with a roof deck for your conference in winter, a gala dinner for your anniversary celebration or a floating ballroom. Whether seminar, conference, party or wedding – the ship adapts flexibly to your wishes.

Customised for your event

Choose between different seating options, technical set-ups and routes. Our design options are very flexible. We try to make every wish possible, no matter how unusual.

Catering to your taste

Cater for your guests with finger food, barbecue, multi-course menus or classic Berlin-style dishes – only your wishes count. Together with our partners, we create a culinary experience for every occasion.

Open and flexible room design

We place great value on modern interior design: tasteful, warm colours dominate the interior of the ship. A sophisticated lighting concept sets accents using direct and indirect lighting.

In addition, the interior of the seminar ship is around half a metre higher than in conventional passenger ships. Nothing feels oppressive, nobody has to tuck their head in – the interior room height of 2.6 metres supports the feel-good climate on board.

Modern thermal insulation

The Orca ten Broke is similar to a low-energy house: with a wall thickness of 30 centimetres and triple-glazed windows, it is significantly better thermally insulated than a conventional ship. Our guests should not only feel comfortable in summer, but also in icy winter temperatures. The low energy consumption benefits both the environment and the organiser.

Underfloor heating and air conditioning

In winter, when there is little sunshine, the batteries are also charged by a generator. The generator produces a lot of heat, which is channelled into the underfloor heating and used to heat the domestic hot water. If the boat is not driving then a buffer tank with a volume of 1,500 litres provides warm water. This ensures optimum utilisation of the thermal energy.

The ship is equipped with air conditioning – in summer, an energy-efficient heat pump cools the ship and releases the heat into the water. In winter, this process is reversed: the heat from the river water is also used to heat the ship.

Solar roof deck

Your guests can enjoy the sun, which charges the batteries, in a deckchair on the roof terrace – either on one of the front sunbathing areas or in the shade of the solar panels, which are set up like a sun canopy and provide protection from the wind and weather on cooler days.

Because the high ceiling was very important to us, we equipped the ship with a hydraulically adjustable solar roof. This allows us to pass under low bridges.

Barrier-free

The seminar ship „Orca ten Broke“ is barrier-free. The doors are wide. The ship has a spacious toilet with grab rails and an alarm button. – Please note: The entrance in our home berth is not barrier-free. The bow is not accessible at ground level. Please contact us for further information and coordination.

Energy consumption

If we were to cover our energy requirements with fossil fuels, the annual CO² emissions would be 12 tonnes of CO² per year for a driving profile in zone 4 waters (e.g. Berlin). With a driving profile in zone 3 waters (e.g. the Rhine), this would be 400 tonnes of CO² per year. We save this with our solar system and the use of renewable plant-based raw materials.

There is not always enough sunlight to cover the energy consumption. On such days, the hybrid electric drive proves its worth: the energy for the virtually noiseless and vibration-free motor now comes from a purely plant-based fuel – it is already utilised and recycled vegetable oil, known as hydrogenated vegetable oil – HVO.
